REQUESTS: Walnuts For Brains! + Food Challenge!

Have you ever noticed that walnut halves look like brains? Surprisingly, eating walnuts is excellent for overall brain health and keeping the mind sharp! Loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, it is the perfect type of fat the brain needs to stay healthy!

The brain is made up of 'Structural Fats' and needs Omega-3 to function at its fullest potential. Unfortunately, 2/3 of Americans are deficient in Omega-3, which can bring on an endless list of frustrating ailments.

With such a high Omega-3 fat content, walnuts can improve memory, promote better sleep, lessen depression and improve heart health! Walnuts are the perfect snack to have before a stressful interview or test as it also helps to lower blood pressure!

The unfortunate side about walnuts is that buying them tends to be expensive, especially in New York. But as a vegan, it is extremely important to be getting Omega-3 in ours diets to keep our brain in tip-top shape. Great food is the best health insurance around!

With such a high rate of Omega-3 deficiency, I bring on this challenge of having a handful of walnuts everyday for 2 weeks! Use the hashtag #WALNUTS4BRAINS on twitter, facebook, or instagram to log your progress! Be creative and eat for your brain!

What do you like with your walnuts? Let us know in the comments below!
